Sara Cummins here, I am taking over Kathryn's position as administrator, please bear with me as I get used to all the various aspects of this position. I am in the office one day a week, usually Thursdays and I'll check in from home as often as I can.
Nuit Blanche was fantastic! We had Terj the blacksmith working until about 2:00 am and the slide-show that Alastair Crombie put together for us was played all night on the outside of our building. The images looked wonderful and we had a lot of people stop to watch the presentation and ask questions. We ran a raffle for some jewellery pieces that were donated for the event and we raised about $350.00 from that.
I'll find out about getting the slide-show posted to this site so everyone can see it.
I can't be sure about everyone else having fun (I assume so) but I certainly did!
The night was a real success. We all had a lot of fun, and it was estimated that between 10 000 and 15 000 people came through Parkdale's Nuit Blanche installations. There was great feedback from the co-ordinators at Nuit Blanche, and we at the Parkdale BIA felt it was a far better year than last year. So many exhibitions, including ours, were very well received.
And did I mention we had fun! There was lots of leftover food from the AGM to snack on, and Dana brewed us a big pot of coffee to keep us all going.
I'm looking forward to planning next year's event - which will be getting started soon. If anyone would like to present proposals, or ideas, please let me know. We are looking for suggestions.
