Do you want to help us make our designs in sterling silver?

Hello,We are jewelry designers with the desire to re create our existing designs in sterling silver. We have exclusive copyrights of our designs and we need to commission mold, casting, finishing and also developing the new collections. It does not have to be done all in one place and we are open to work with studios outside of Calgary. Please let me know if we could help each other :DThank you so muchLorenaSee More

MAGC 2013: Design sans Frontières

Deadline: 22 March 2013 *FINAL EXTENSION OF DEADLINE*

The Metal Arts Guild of Canada invites members of the Guild to submit current work to our 2013 biennial juried exhibition, Design Sans Frontières: Metal Artists In Collaboration.

Opening during Meta-Mosaic: 2013 SNAG Conference, Design Sans Frontières will be showcased in the main floor gallery of the Design Exchange, Canada's Design Museum.

Digital design and fabrication processes are erasing the old distinctions between designers and makers, craft and industry. At the same time, we yearn for the unique connection between culture, material and making that has traditionally defined craft.

The fact is that creativity knows no borders. We are looking for work that integrates the materials and techniques of metal arts and other creative disciplines. We encourage teams to explore ways to combine traditional and new modes of making and design in the metal arts.

Teams can comprise a metal artist working with a collaborator from any other creative field: ceramics, glassblowing, architecture, graphic design, literature, dance... We welcome all forms of multidisciplinary and multi-media design and making.

Each team is responsible for conceptual development and production of the finished piece that is submitted for jurying.

The entry fee is $50, payable with Visa, MasterCard or Paypal. The entry fee covers a maximum of three works, and covers both members of the collaborative partnership. The entry fee is nonrefundable.

At least one member of the collaboration must belong to the Metal Arts Guild of Canada. To become a member of MAGC, visit:

The work selected for exhibition will be chosen by a Jury composed of:

  • Charles Lewton-Brain, prominent Canadian metal artist, educator, writer and publisher, and winner of the 2012 Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in the fine crafts
  • Alan Elder, a noted writer and editor who serves as Curator of Canadian Crafts and Design, and Assistant Director of the Ethnology and Cultural Studies Division at the Canadian Museum of Civilization
  • Joy Charbonneau, an architect, artist and designer whose work has been published in Wallpaper and Azure, and exhibited at the Design Exchange and Harbourfront Centre.

Important Dates:

  • Call for Entry and jurying process announced: December 2012
  • Jury announced:  February 2013
  • Submission deadline: 22 March 2013 *FINAL EXTENDED DEADLINE*
  • Notification (by email): 5 April 2013
