Mejuri is a Toronto start up, and the first fine jewelry website to use the power of the crowd to bring unique fine jewelry designs to the market.
What makes Mejuri different from other online fine jewelry retailers?
Mejuri is harnessing the power of crowdsourcing to bring one of a kind, unique creations of jewelry designers into the hands of fine jewelry lovers. Crowdsourcing is the key corner stone of our business model, enabling us to source jewelry designs from designers all over the world, bringing them to the forefront and providing our customers with access to unique pieces that otherwise would have gone undiscovered. Every piece is expertly crafted using the finest materials and all products sold have a story, a person and a member of our community behind it.
By fostering the spirit of co-creation, and leveraging its ability to manufacture and distribute only those pieces that have been chosen by our customers, Mejuri offers a premium selection of fine jewellery items you won’t find anywhere else.
How Mejuri Works
Designers get inspired by the design brief and description for the challenge or open call, and submit their designs either as sketches, images or CAD images.
If the design submission is deemed acceptable, it then moves to the voting and commenting section of our site for 7-14 days. During this time the general public votes on their favourite designs and can provide their suggestions and feedback.
After voting ends, Mejuri examines the votes received; the public interest, and does an internal assessment that focuses on current market trends and technical feasibility.
If the design is selected, Mejuri will manufacture it and sell it, and the designer in turn earns a percentage on every sale made. The piece will initially be available through a group buy discount to reward early adopters, and will then move to the shop for sale at retail price. Jewelry lovers everywhere will have access to some of the most unique and high quality jewelry pieces on the web.
“Designed by you, loved by everyone.”
Mejuri launched its first design challenge September 2012, under the theme ‘Simple is Chic’. Designers who submitted to this competition came from different parts of the world including: Italy, UK, India, Peru, Portugal, Canada, Jordan, and UAE. These designers have different technical backgrounds including award winning jewelry designers, fashion students and architects. Mejuri launched it's second design challenge in November under the theme 'The Perfect Pendent'. The “Voting” phase for 'The Perfect Pendent is open until December 1st on www.mejuri.com.
Staring December 2012, Mejuri will have open calls, where designers can submit any piece to our challenge.
We are always looking for talented designers to work with us, if you have any questions please dont hesitate to message us.
