Safety Requirements

Hello! I'm a beginner jewelry maker currently focused on sterling silver/ copper wire wrapped jewelry. This is mostly just a hobby, but I'd eventually like to make enough pieces to sell in local crafts fairs or potentially online. I'm wondering what kind of safety requirements need to be met to do this? For example, I know there are certain regulations regarding lead content in adult/children's jewelry that need to be met. As a beginning artist, how does one show that I'm using safe materials?…See More

I travel all over the USA - from New Orleans to Seattle to New York doing shows. For the last 10 years I have been teaching enameling - lately at George Brown College and The Devil's Workshop. Last year I opened an enamel supply business http://www.emporiumvitreum.ca to serve Canadian enamelists.

Can you make bezels in a hurry?

I have a few enamelled pieces that need bezels. I am looking for someone who can do them for reasonable price, and before May 20. I know this is a lot to ask! But if the job interests you, drop me a line. You can write on my wall or contact me through the 'send a message' function here on MAG - or contact me offlist at imagocorvi@yahoo.ca

Thanks!

etsy comes to Toronto - May 1 - That's Today!

I realise that this is a last minute notice - but I just found out myself - over at Toronto Craft Alert - it just goes to show you that I should check there more often!

As part of their international tour, etsy will be paying us a visit. Muka, who writes the etsy blog, will be accompanying the Chief Technology Officer, Chad Dickerson and Vice-President of Product Sara Hicks. They plan to give a little background on where Etsy has been and… Continue

Hello Catherine
I received the email "featuring British Columbia" and I haven't had any time to respond! Between the two studio moves, the building construction at my co-op, a short contract for a film and a long weekend getaway of camping on Galiano island, May will be over by the time I get back to you! I'll try this week! Hope you are well,
B

I haven't done any new metalwork for awhile, but I do have a picture of a bronze dragon that I made in '06, would you be interested in that photo? And I am a fan of the Alternator Gallery in Kelowna, which you can find on Facebook, but they are not exclusive to metalwork or anything like that; however, if you are interested, I can give you the link to a weekly list of some fine arts events in the Okanagan Valley, BC.

It is a fantastic space! I just moved in and we're doing renovations to the gallery and preparing the work space for the other jewellers and benches. Thanks so much for the home page article! That's great!

Hi Catherine,
The board meeting is for Thursday so I will be in on that day. Kill two birds with one stone! I might also be there earlier in the week to get the Wait/Weight mailed back to the artists, but that is not definite. Thanks about the spam, I am hoping to be able to get the authority to update the site with all of the changes the board voted upon last year.
Sara
