Hey there!I'm a pretty new silver smith! I have just started up a little work bench of my own and I bought the EZ torch. It has been working really well the last few months, but this week the flame has started to surge and sputter. Graduate from University of Manitoba Fine Arts Honors- Thesis in Sculpture. Bachelor of Education from University of Winnipeg and Vocational Instructor's Diploma from Red River College. Certificate in Jewellery Arts, Sturgeon Heights Collegiate.
Share some of your career highlights or goals.
I am in my twenty-first year of teaching the Jewellery and Metalsmithing Program at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate in Winnipeg. It is a vocational program and the only certification program in Manitoba. I teach grades 9-12 and adults.
My thesis project is a public sculpture on the grounds of the University of Manitoba.
I sat on the board for the Manitoba Jeweller's Association for several years and co-chaired their annual design competition.
Last year I wrote the curriculum for the Manitoba
Department of Education for the Jewellery and Metalsmithing Program.
Honorable mention in the 2000 Metal Arts Guild Juried Exhibit 'Behind Glass, and several awards from the Manitoba Jewelers Association Design Competition.
