Beginner enameling with Torched Studio

Learn enamelling from a full time professional enamellist.  I teach both traditional and experimental techniques. In my one day enamelling workshops you will learn as much in 5 hours as many classes teach in a month or more. No experience is necessary to take the beginner class. By the end of class you will be comfortable enamelling on your own.  This is a great option for those living outside the downtown core as there's no commuting back and forth.Enamelling is not limited to jewellery, it can…See More

Help Selling Online

Hi everyone, just joined the group. I am a metal and sculptor located in Penetang Ontario. I am trying to grow my business and would like to begin selling online through my websites and venue's such as ETSY. I am wondering how people ship larger pieces of work, and how they anticipate shipping costs. I've included a link to two pieces I've just made to use as an example, a garden fairy and a sailboat. Any advice and help would be appreciated. As well I'm looking for gallery's to show my…See More

Interview with Catherine Crowe

MAG: What led you down this career path? Was there a recognizable ' aha' moment in your life?

CC: Very definitely. It came when I first travelled back to Ireland - my father's native land. When Dad came to Canada, after the 2nd world war it was not a place friendly to the Irish. People forget how much prejudice there was. Lots of job listings had a codicil "Irish need not apply". So he worked hard to get rid of his Irish accent and culture in order… Continue

Interview with Janis Kerman

What do you love most about being an artist/designer?

I guess I love the freedom to create, to realize a vision/ an aesthetic and to have that be made into a piece that someone will cherish is very special.

Your designs are instantly recognizable - did you have a clear vision of your style & brand from the beginning?

I can’t say that I’ve…

  • What led you down this career path?
I think it was a few key mentors along the way who introduced me to metal. Lois Betteridge was the first, when I took my first silversmithing class at the Haliburton School of the… Continue

Hi Sara,
That seemed like a very clever fix. I was able to update my profile! Thanks!

On the profile settings, it asks the question "for non-individuals, are you a...gallery, organization, school, guild" but it won't let me update my profile without clicking on one of these options. But I am not a non-individual, and am none of these things...
I also noticed that jewellers who have recently joined have HAD to click on one of these options.
Just wanted to let you know that was happening.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your message. I was not sure where to post news. (It would be so nice to have a section for member's news in each profile!!!). Also, may I ask you why you deleted it without telling me first- or why you did'nt transfer it directly to the forum? Now if I want to post it I have to re-write it and find the pic again.... oh well, beside that I think the site is quite nice!
All the best, Claudio
