Hello! I'm a beginner jewelry maker currently focused on sterling silver/ copper wire wrapped jewelry. This is mostly just a hobby, but I'd eventually like to make enough pieces to sell in local crafts fairs or potentially online. I'm wondering what kind of safety requirements need to be met to do this? For example, I know there are certain regulations regarding lead content in adult/children's jewelry that need to be met. As a beginning artist, how does one show that I'm using safe materials?…See More

Earlier in lifeyear 1 of BFA @ Emily Carr College, also studied enamelling in USA and various other jewellery and metal etc courses. I worked as an academic - not in arts- and writer. Have continued, when time permitted, part time arts practice in various media. Now retired and have time to return to art. I can't recall for sure but think I was a member of MAGuild when I lived in Halifax Nova Scotia- late 1990s.

Still have my enamelling kiln and tools and soem ( sadly ) very old enamals thinking about enamelling again after nearly 20 years of writing and activities in other media. I just moved to Montreal so not sure where to find studio space and/courses. Many years ago I had art work that was shown and I also sold some pieces but that was decades ago and doesn't count. My career highlights when I worked are not relevant to MAGuild as they well outside arts. My current goal is very simple - start again with art.
