Hello! I'm a beginner jewelry maker currently focused on sterling silver/ copper wire wrapped jewelry. This is mostly just a hobby, but I'd eventually like to make enough pieces to sell in local crafts fairs or potentially online. I'm wondering what kind of safety requirements need to be met to do this? For example, I know there are certain regulations regarding lead content in adult/children's jewelry that need to be met. Tell us about your education.
I completed my BA at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto in Material Art and Design, majoring in jewellery and just completed my Masters in Jewellery, Silversmithing and Related Products at the Birmingham School of Jewellery in the UK.
Share some of your career highlights or goals.
I have participated in the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, my work is in Lark Books 500 Wedding Rings book, I've shown work in various galleries and stores in Toronto. I am participating in Luke and Eloy Galleries Paper or Plastic exhibition in Pittsburgh, and I am featuring some of my Masters work at Schmuck 2010. I am currently working as a full time jewellery artist creating my own silver jewellery as well as drawings, photographs, sculptures and plan to start t-shirt design.
