Safety Requirements

Hello! I'm a beginner jewelry maker currently focused on sterling silver/ copper wire wrapped jewelry. This is mostly just a hobby, but I'd eventually like to make enough pieces to sell in local crafts fairs or potentially online. I'm wondering what kind of safety requirements need to be met to do this? For example, I know there are certain regulations regarding lead content in adult/children's jewelry that need to be met. As a beginning artist, how does one show that I'm using safe materials?…See More

Love to hear about 2010 Tucson features

I've been to the Tucson gem show years ago and have desired to go again. If any of you went this year I'd love to hear about any new gemstones on the market, any interesting features or shows or any news on significant price fluctuation from previous years.

Hi Sarah
I went to Tuscon this year, spent 7 days going through the shows, it was overwelming as always but always interesting. I try not to buy much for the 1st bit until I see how things hace been priced. As always huge differences in price for the same material. I don't buy much faceted stones more into the rougher material. I did notice some large price jumps in the AGTA show since I was here 3 years ago!

Thanks Sarah,
I'm having difficulties finding thing on the site...but it will come, I'm sure. I am going on a hunt to try to see some of your work. Where in Canada are you from?
We went to Tuscon this was fabulous! What would you like to know. My BF is a Commercial Gem Cutter so we were looking for rough rock to cut, but we did see some gorgeous carved stone.
