Charles Funnell Striving to create hollowware and jewellery that eliminates extraneous information in the search for purity is one of my goals. It is the essence that speaks loudest. I am constantly learning and refining techniques that allow my expression to be truer to my vision. I want the concept to inform my process and not be bound to any particular technique. A common element within my work is a sense of movement, sometime real sometimes imagined. This movement or energy courses through the created and seeks to break the bonds of gravity and even reality.
Creatively, all I can do is push against my own boundaries and technical abilities, to constantly evolve, grow and interpret as an artist. I believe that the problem solving process is also key to my growth as an artist. It is through this process that I create moments of clarity and resolution that all artists struggle for as creative beings. It is the “Eureka” moment!
